I previously had a night light that scored a two or three out of four on the brightness scale. It was quite bright and I needed something dimmer to help my baby sleep through the night and tell night from day. What I like most about this night light is that it's nice and dark enough to navigate my bedroom, yet the warm amber color doesn't interfere with sleep. The rectangular shape of the lantern looks strange. I'd say the alarm light on my watch is brighter than this one, but it doesn't brighten the room as much as a night light, although it's dim. This night light can be useful for changing a diaper in the dark, but it should be right next to the changing table if you expect to see anything.
