Let me first say that this chair is very comfortable even when sitting for a long time. It is generally well made. Assembly was easy and the price is right. The reason for the 3 star rating is that the air cylinder in the base on the unit I received was defective. I'm a tall guy but not THAT tall (220 lbs). About a week after receiving this chair, I sat on it and it went down to its lowest height. I tried adjusting it, thinking maybe the paddle on the controller was stuck somewhere, but every time I sat in the chair it went all the way down. I think either the seal has burst or the case has cracked somewhere. I didn't "flop" but sat down normally. Luckily, office chair cylinders are almost universal, so I was able to steal one from my old office chair to replace this faulty one. Except for the cylinder, the chair holds up very well.
