This is a great bath toy for those worried about mold. And it's just fun for the kids. It is not difficult to tie a fish to the rod, but the younger it is, the more difficult it is due to the coordination required. My almost 4 year old has no problems and mine just turned 2, it's a bit more complicated. But even when they're not fishing, they enjoy playing with the little characters. Also, the string doesn't coil up but is thick and strong. The wheel turns and sounds like a fishing rod. The only problem I see is when you have two kids and one drops out. They are quite heavy and hard and would probably hurt if hit.
