I followed the manufacturer's sizing guide, my little boy is a skinny five years old. He is close to highest limit for height for the size four and it fits him like a glove it couldn't be any better if it was custom made. He loves it , their is plenty of stretch in it to make it good for all water activities. The neck strap is very comfortable which makes him want to wear it. Overall we are really happy with it . It was internationally delivered as well and reached us within a week , which is better than we expected, the tracking was spot on all the way and made it easy for us to figure out when it will exactly arrive.
