I use them under the microwave over the stove. I like the 6000K color temperature as I can see detail better than at lower incandescent temperatures and I find the color of the food I cook looks normal. The detail I see at this temperature is so enhanced that I often sort my mail and read recipe printouts in this light because they are easier to read in this color temperature light. (Tired old eyes with reading glasses 1.75). Not much brightness for me. I don't use these dimmers at half brightness as they flicker when dimmed. When I used incandescent bulbs, I left them dimmed to half brightness overnight as a night light when I had overnight guests. I don't do that with them for two reasons; 1 flickering disturbs. 2 even dim is too bright for a night light. I've only been using it for two months so it's too early to speak about durability. During this time, the brightness and color remained as new. The base on them is true to size, simply screwed into the socket and secure. The LEDs are coated with something transparent, possibly silicone. I expect this to contain parts if one of the many individual LEDs bursts. Looking back I really like them, I forgot how I used to strain to see what I'm cooking with my not so bright 40 watt bulbs.
