Review on πŸŽ₯ FEELWORLD LIVEPRO L1: Real Time Video Mixer Switcher for Multi Camera Production and Live Streaming by Jake Powell

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Bargain Price Simple Mixer

If you're new to streaming, you've heard of the Black Magic ATEM Mini Pro and Livepro L1. Bought both to try. The Livepro is half the price of the ATEM Mini Pro but is similarly priced to the Atem mini. I only have Mini Pro so I can't speak for Atem Mini. First, both ATEM and Livepro do pretty much the same thing. Both are very well built and a good weight. Both have 4 HDMI inputs. ATEM has 2 microphone inputs, Livepro has one. Livepro has headphones for monitoring, ATEM does not. Both perform basic transitions like swipes and fades. Both do picture-in-picture. The Livepro has a tiny LCD screen that shows you what's going into each of the 4 inputs, eliminating the need for an external monitor. The Livepro also has a 1/4 threaded mount on the right side if you want to mount it somewhere. Both can be connected to a computer via USB or network. The difference is that the Livepro L1 software is terrible. It actually just copies the controls without adding any functionality. You're better off without software. The firmware update process is complicated. On the other hand, the Atem software completely expands the capabilities of the hardware. Much more features and flexibility. So for easy camera switching in large meetings etc., Livepro is a great solution. It's very easy to use and offers most of the features that most users need in a solid package. So easy, you don't even need to read the instructions. And you certainly don't get anything else with the software. What you get with ATEM is much more programmatic flexibility. You have a complete audio mixer. A much more complex audio/video interface paired with a computer. You can do titles, keying, audio syncing, etc. There's a lot more to learn, but it's a lot more powerful. You are actually buying a BlackMagic biosphere. I really like to study all the features of the program, everything is intuitive. But then again, I'm a bit of a geek. So for someone like me I like ATEM better and it costs twice as much. It's flexible and extremely powerful for such a small box. I actually use both devices. I have an HDMI output on a Livepro as a fourth input on an ATEM. So when I need something very simple, I just use Livepro over ATEM. If I want to fantasize, I can use the ATEM features. What both have in common is that neither have an on/off switch. Strange.
