If you purchased this resistor pack, your fan may still run at the high setting (4) as this setting bypasses the resistor pack. However, you may also need a new fan as the resistor bank usually fails due to excessive heat causing the solder joint to fail. The heating is caused by the fan consuming too much power. If this is the case, the new resistance pack will fail for the same reason, perhaps sooner rather than later. When I removed my fan it needed more torque to spin than a new replacement. The positioning of the fan and resistor pack is a little awkward, but it only requires a few tools and I believe many people will be able to get the job done.
