I like this charger for what it is. Small and serves its purpose. But I wish these things had a "dumb" switch that would turn them into a dumb charger. Smart chargers are good for fast unattended charging and long-term storage, but when all you need is stable power, they can't deliver it. I needed to fully charge a new 14Ah motorcycle battery. New lead-acid batteries need to be "fully" charged if you want them to last as long as possible. According to the areometer, it took several days for the individual cells to settle down. I had to use a wall charger that put out about 15 volts with a slightly smaller amp. I checked the electrolyte level from time to time, but I didn't have to top up any cells. Smart chargers have their place, but sometimes you need a simple one.
