6 layers? BS good for covers

Received the product today and installed it on my car. I had to cut a small hole/slit in the lid to get through my radio antenna (it's a classic sports car, doesn't have a retractable electronic antenna) and found not SIX layers of anything, but two of the thinnest layers imaginable can. The inner layer is said to be cotton, but I don't have a lab to confirm my doubts about it. In one of the Q&A's I saw someone say "cotton-like" inner layer, what does that mean? The outer "layer" is an extremely thin plastic material, no idea what that is. I haven't checked if it really is "waterproof" as advertised. I would like to hear from the company what exactly these alleged "6 layers" are made of and where to find them before I return this item for a refund.
