CCRadio Guy Impresses

I've been using C Crane, Sangean, Grundig and other high quality radios at home for decades. When I decided I needed a Walkman-type radio for my country house, I first looked at premium brands. I found several reviewers who also praised this much more affordable little radio. I decided to give it a try considering the very reasonable price. Obviously 5 stars I am very satisfied. I live in Austin, Texas and I listen to talk radio almost exclusively. There are two AM stations here and two AM stations in San Antonio (60 miles?) that I usually switch back and forth. All four sound great from this tiny radio. I also preset Austin FM stations and they sound great too. Traveling, working in the yard do not show strong signal degradation. The battery life is better than expected. A few weeks later I'm still working with the original single AAA battery. The HOLD (Lock) switch is very useful, it locks all buttons but not the volume controls. This prevents accidental "pressing" of the keys, but makes it easier to adjust the volume if necessary. The digital display is small, but sufficient even in sunlight. If you're considering tiny, premium radios that cost two or three times the price, think again, as I did. As you can see from my introductory offer, I'm willing to spend money on premium radios. I'm an engineer and I'm picky about my "materials". I have nothing but praise for this little Sony and wouldn't trade it for any of the much more expensive brands. When it comes to headphones, I'm also very picky about the headphones I use while working. I do not recommend them for outdoor use for safety reasons. The included earbuds are comfortable while still letting through enough outside noise to alert you to approaching neighbors or danger. Most in-ear headphones don't do this, and wearing them outdoors is dangerous. This thing is perfect for its purpose and also doubles as an inexpensive emergency AM/FM/weather radio that can be kept in an office drawer, glove box and bedside table. to the lanterns. Two packs of AAA batteries last a long time. Oh wait a minute. One complaint concerns the size of the removable belt clip. This allows you to use a belt that is 1-1/4 inches wide but thin. I found it a bit awkward to use and a bit small for the work/gardening belts I wear. It was much easier to just put the belt on. Radio in his pocket, and I think that gives him a little more protection from "things that happen" when working on the farm. The small radio fits easily in a pocket and the headphone cord (as well as the antenna) seems to be the perfect length to allow full movement without getting in the way, especially when it's over the shoulder. Five stars, even with a single one Strap clip is a minor annoyance. You can wear smaller belts.
