Bought for my daughter but won't install.

Our daughter has read the instructions and watched the video several times but cannot assemble this item properly. She's pretty smart so we're not sure if the step guide was left over or what happened, but she bought it when she just moved into her first apartment with her 2.5 year old and it can be seen on her front door to open. . So HUGE cons for this item.
