Green cap gives water a weird/chemical taste

I'm a big fan of Klean Kanteen products and my 2 year old daughter drank from mine so I decided to buy this for her. I noticed an odd taste every time I sipped from her cup. I thought maybe she was washing toothpaste in there or something. I cleaned it and put it back in and then the flavor came back. It almost tastes like Vick's Vaporizer (sp?). Anyway, I took it off and put it on the bottle and now my water has a taste. The black cap looks ok. I'm glad I noticed.
