Works very well and is a must for descending the normally jagged shale cliffs here in North Central Pennsylvania. I just wrap it around the double rope over the belay device with velcro. Then I move it with me, starting at the edge and releasing it where I need the most protection. As soon as he is pushed against the edge with a rope, he does not give in. I don't usually have to use a clamp wire, but if he keeps slipping down the ropes when I pull the ropes to pick him up, I clamp him down. It still glides very easily to my release point. He then ascends the rope by pulling it back once from above.
