Revainrating 5 out of 5

As I said, this is a very good carbon steel

I admit that reading other reviews I was very hesitant to buy this razor, even for its low price. Additionally, the logo (which isn't a standard color) added suspicion as to whether it was an actual Gold Dollar Straight Razor. But upon arrival all doubts were cleared. For those who don't know much about carbon steel and quality, Gold Dollar excels at quality and leads the way in almost every aspect of the CURRENT day razor. With the exception of Dovo Straight Razors, the classic German steel company, few can compete in the "affordable" market. I believe that in contrast to the black and red logo found on most gold dollar razors, the blue advertises the unique twist on this blade. Something is not normal. But that's all personal preference. Without writing most of the book (although I'm sure I will); The product as a whole is EXACTLY as advertised so I wouldn't understand anything less than 5 stars. The word "faux" is defined; "made in imitation; "artificial" before "rosewood" EXPLAINS that the blades (or for those unfamiliar with razors, the handle) of the product are made of plastic. The pivot pin is properly adjusted and holds the blade firmly for handling and that Sharpening. As for the blade, the product section says "knife comes sharp from the factory but not shave ready" which is literally telling you that you need to put some time and effort into sharpening the blade.enough to use.like I said ,this is a very good carbon steel, when buying or if you have other straight razors, put fingernail tip under the edge of the blade and pull out when the steel sings, that is good quality. But it will take time and effort to sharpen a sharp edge.i personally would recommend 4000/8000/12000 grit wet stones for this, which with a blade of this quality (which will last a lifetime with proper care) is a lot cheaper to buy than the Ka uf viable razor in today's market. Although again it takes time to get it right to figure out and learn, but that's what YouTube is for. Overall, with the right sanding skills and proper sanding after each use, this is a great product that I will keep and use. for the rest of my life, even with my razor collection. Gold Dollar offers a close, smooth and comfortable shave.
