Excellent equipment for all. If compacts and toys are no longer appropriate, it will make you feel unbelievably happy. Cons don't really matter to me. Consider whether you actually need a viewfinder before sacrificing the lack of one. A manually pop-up flash ensures that it does not fire unintentionally when it is not required. Pros include: portability, zoom, ergonomics, high-quality images, macro, easy-to-use controls, clear displays, reliable automatic mode in good lighting, manual development, and perfection. Cons include: the low-power, slow-charging flash, bad equipment, horrible noise at ISO settings above 400, and occasionally focusing issues at twilight.
