Dependable Chromebook, but far from premium

I'll start by saying I'm a Chromebook fan. I've tested a few and owned a few. There are other apps (we called them "programs" and "software" when I was a kid) that only work on a PC, but I try to take my Chromebook with me whenever I can because they're pretty darn convenient. Why is it important? Because this review isn't about hating Chromebooks. These are great little cars. Many reviews hate the operating system and do not focus on the hardware when writing their reviews. Unfortunately, this Acer flagship CB3-532 15.6 inch HD "Premium Chromebook" from 2017 is not really "Premium". It's even better for two Benjamins. more than NASA has for all of the Apollo missions—in spacecraft and on the ground combined. But I expected more. I have a 2015 Asus 10-inch Chromebook that beats this 2017 15-inch Chromebook and they both cost the same. I was hoping to "trade" but it looks like I'll keep the mini Chromebook to myself and just use this 15-inch Chromebook as a backup at the office. . But unfortunately mine arrived with dirt all over it (bottom and sides mostly). The screen and keyboard were (thankfully) clean. But the rest of the case was honestly gross. We're talking dirt, sebum and possibly food stains. I do not know what. Someone should have wiped it down with a rag before shipping. It was absolutely disgusting to receive it with visible stains and foreign material on it. The screen quality is decent enough. It might technically be "HD", but it doesn't vary in color and brightness like many other HD screens. When reading emails, the text feels soft and fuzzy compared to my Asus PC Latpop screen and Asus 10 inch Chromebook. I would give the 15 inch screen an Acer 7/10. Again, not bad for the price, but certainly not on par with the screens of other laptops we're seeing now. The speakers are amazing. Not only are they of good quality, they also face each other! To be honest, international law requires all laptops to have upward-firing speakers in order for us to hear them. The keyboard is excellent. It feels professional and isn't too loud (some cheap laptops have a clicking problem). You could use this on a first class plane and not bother the bluebloods next to you with his poodle and monocle. Where this Chromebook really falls short is in performance. Now I'm not here waiting for the Cray supercomputer (have I met yet?), but I was disappointed when trying to run a 4k YouTube video. It was a complete rejection. Not entirely unexpected, but I was hoping a "premium" Chromebook could handle it. Even more disappointingly, it stutters a bit even with 1080 HD videos from YouTube. This is not Bueno. I tried watching some videos on this Chromebook and comparing it to my PC, and the Chromebook just didn't have the charm, the fun, or the tiger's eye. So this Chromebook is generally good value for money, but far from premium. . It's a decent statement for the price, but if you enjoy watching HD Netflix or another streaming movie, I think I'd look for another Chromebook with better video capabilities. UPDATE: The day this refurbished model arrived, I noticed that Walmart had brand new ones for less. I will be returning this used model.
