update. The new knife squeaked sharply. I just got a crack and started using it and it cut through lime and pine like a champ. And that's great. Most people who buy carving knives go no further. My problem arose when I wanted to carve the azure tree. It is not that hard. But the edge has just started to chip. To the point where I would have to re-profile the Scandinavian edge with an extra bevel. The inner core steel is too hard. And that's fine if you're just carving basswood or other soft "wood carvings." I cut a lot of wood and the edge never got so dull that the hair wouldn't come out of my hand. This means it's forgiving for people new to knives who don't really know how to keep a sharp edge. My proposition. If you're just planning on making crafts out of pine or something softer, then this is a solid knife. It's a bit wide for making really fine carvings in tricky angles. But it's enough to get you started. But if you want to carve more exotic woods with odd grains or just harder woods I would suggest something else. Still a great knife from a great company. And if for some reason someone who works for Mora sees this. I would suggest toning down the hardness of this inner core a bit. He's too fragile. Mainly because of the super thin tip. The tip of the knife is just an internal shaft with no support and I've seen many reviews everywhere where the tips just snap off where the layers meet. Don't hit yourself. Just thought I'd give you an idea. I'd rather cut off the rounded edge than reuse the broken off one.
