I'm all for cheap gear, guerrilla shooting, DIY and clever workarounds that save money. BUT. equipment in your kit. This clip is firmly attached to table, stand, railing, pipe, banister, shelf, cabinet door, etc. If this clip can cut in, I think it will hold up. Buy fakes for cheap LED lights, flags and other inexpensive stuff, but by all means buy some of these for the nicer lights you are investing in and even your camera. I have no doubt that this clamp can and will hold my Canon 60D DSLR with whatever lens I choose (as long as it's mounted correctly). Also, it costs $30. have at one's fingertips. Don't wait until you make the rookie mistake of discovering too late how badly you need it.
