After seeing good results for the first few months of the diet, I found that my weight was stuck and didn't seem to budge for the last few weeks. So I did the obvious: I got a new scale. These scales have some unusual features, they not only report your weight but also your heart rate [deep breathing], body fat, lean body mass, hydration, visceral fat, bone mass, BMI, BMR and metabolic age. Most are approximate, based on bioelectrical impedance analysis, which means the scale sends a small electrical current from one bare foot to the other and measures the resistance. This value is used to estimate body fat, muscle mass, and other metrics. The important word here is "evaluation". Bioelectrical impedance readings vary depending on your hydration level, whether you have exercised recently, and many other factors. However, the readings that the application of this scale shows will undoubtedly be interesting and useful for some. I found the app setup moderately frustrating; It couldn't connect to my WiFi despite four attempts, but connected to the scale via Bluetooth, ok. I changed my settings to use pounds instead of metric, but the change didn't appear on the scale display until I removed the scale from the app and then added it back. Unfortunately this scale refused to report that my weight was anything. lower than what my other scale showed. It also contained some lewd language about my BMI, body fat percentage, and metabolic age. Khrmf. I think for now I'll basically just count my weight off the scale and work harder on my diet. 😓
