Review on LAMY Joy Calligraphy Set - Black with Black Ink Cartridges for Enhanced SEO by Morgan Gilmore

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Worked better than I expected.

(Note I'm new to calligraphy) Considering the price and the fact that it's used with fountain pen cartridges I was a bit skeptical. I keep hearing about Lamy on calligraphy blogs and this is my first experience. I was looking for a fountain pen that can do calligraphy and this one exceeded my expectations using 1.5 and 1.9 nibs. I found 1.1 too thin for me to get a clear distinction between strokes. I use it for practice when I'm stuck in meetings or want to practice when I don't have the time or location to use the pen. Writing - The flow rate when using ink cartridges is consistent and smooth, the nibs don't scratch in my experience and feel as smooth as a rollerball (0.5) or round nibs. The pressure required for dabs was a bit stiff at first (very light) but the pin opens easily after a little use. Critic. My only concern is that I've noticed that my grip sometimes easily unscrews from the riser with prolonged use. . The grip itself feels solid yet light, but mine does loosen up a bit from time to time. I may be overtight so your mileage may vary. I love this pen so much that I bought a converter made for these pens and look forward to continued use. I have no idea how long these nibs will last, but plan on using them for as long as possible.
