Review on CRAFTSMAN Torpedo Level: A πŸ”¨ Reliable 9 Inch CMHT82390 for Precision Work by Moises Dzihic

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Accurate, strong and magnetic

I checked the level and plumb with a horizontal and a vertical surface and then rotated 180Β° and checked again. The bubbles were perfect. I haven't tested the 45 degree bubble, but I suspect it's perfect too. The lower tier is machined from aluminum for straightness and durability (see image). It also has two magnets embedded in aluminum for easy use on steel items such as washing machines, dryers, ovens and so on. The bottom plane is the only plane that should be used for plumb, level, and 45Β° measurements. Edit: I liked the torpedo level so much that I decided to also use the 48 inch level for the big deck project I have. Very good level of wood for years for any use I can think of including masonry which was my earlier career. After decades of abuse and my latest backyard brick fire project in 2020, it's finally broken. I knew something was wrong as I chased the level around the square fireplace. The Craftsman 48" level is not the right one! This 48" level will accurately measure spirit level and plumb, however it is a lightweight level and should be handled accordingly. It is not intended for bricklayers or anyone who uses a level professionally. With two leveling flasks, it only has one which is torpedo shaped to level in both opposite planes. I prefer two leveled vials which are more accurate when sized individually. If there is any variation in the torpedo shaped glass vials one side may be inaccurate, the level I bought seems to be as accurate as my eye can see. For the price you can't go wrong if cared for and used properly.
