Review on 🔴 Inateck KT5001 PCI-E to USB 3.0 Card: 5 Ports with Power Connector - Red by Jeffrey Gallagher

I would give the board five stars if Inateck had better documentation/software support. The hardware itself seems good. I am using the 5+2 port version of the card (KTU3FR-5O2I) in a Dell T7400 device that does not natively support USB 3.0. Pros: 1) The card and cables appear to be well made. It's great that Inateck has included the adapter's power cable. I ended up using the SATA power cable as an extension cable as my native cables were too short to reach the card. 2) After figuring out what drivers to use with the card in Windows 10 it seems to be working fine (see below). USB 3.0 WD MyBook achieves speeds of just over 150 MB/s sequential read/write; the same drive in a USB2.0 port gives 30-40 MB/s. Cons: 1) The card does not recognize WD MyBook with Windows 10 standard drivers, resulting in an error in Device Manager. The problem can be solved with updated drivers directly from the Fresco Logic chipset manufacturer (USB 3.0 Host Driver, v3.6.8.0 from the Fresco website). Too bad Inateck doesn't mention these drivers (or any Windows 10 drivers for that matter) on their website. 2) My USB keyboard is not recognized by the motherboard BIOS on a Dell T7400 when connected to an Inateck card (and works fine when connected to the motherboard USB ports). Keep this in mind if you intend to connect the keyboard to a USB 3.0 hub connected to the card. In general, the map isn't perfect, but it's good enough. UPDATE 4/21/2016. I wrote to Inateck about a driver problem and how I solved it. They responded by suggesting that I remove the Fresco drivers (although I had written to them that the card works with those drivers) and reinsert the card. Saved the Fresco drivers and didn't reconnect the card - the card still works :-). UPDATE 5/2/2016. I tried uninstalling Fresco drivers as suggested by Inateck tech support. This time the card recognized my WD drives (WD MyBook USB3 and WD MyPassport USB3) with no problems. However, the recently purchased SanDisk USB 3.0 flash drive (SanDisk Extreme CZ80 64GB USB 3.0 up to 245MB/s - SDCZ80-064G-GAM46) does not work when connected to the bottom three connectors of the Inateck card ( Ports , directly connected to the DL1100 controller), but works when the top two ports are connected to the controller via an internal USB 3.0 hub. This seems to be a known issue with the FL1100 chipset and some flash drives. So keep this in mind if the device doesn't work with the card. UPDATE 1/25/2017. This card *may* conflict with nVidia Pascal GPUs (particularly the GTX 1060, but there may be other 10X0s), at least on some motherboards. nVidia Pascal GPUs have a known bug where the computer sometimes freezes when going to sleep on some motherboards. It seems that this error appears more often when this USB3 card is present. I've tried different combinations of PCIe slots with no positive result. However, the card worked fine with my old nVidia Quadro FX1700 GPU. I will post here if I find a solution. UPDATE 01/14/2018. I found a reliable solution to the above problem. Apparently the system only crashes when waking from sleep mode with the power button, but doesn't crash when waking up with mouse movement.
