When I insert the paper filter into our hearing aid, I always have to squeeze the paper frame. This filter fits perfectly. All filter manufacturers claim that the dimensions are smaller due to different tolerances of filter housing manufacturers. In any case. K&N ships the filter with extra bolts in case the return housing mounting bolts are protruding. So it was with me. The filter did not fit because it touched the mounting screws. I replaced 4 screws one by one with the screws that came with the filter and everything worked. less so that the filter does not bounce. Some reviews mention noise when moving the filter. They may have overlooked these faucets, or they may not have them. Check all 4 sides of the frame for these taps. They usually sit flush with the frame when not needed. Just move them away from the frame until the filter is tight. As for the expensive cleaner. This is a true statement, but I have no intention of using a K&N cleaner on this filter. K&N cleaner is for car filters and they are oiled. The cleaner dissolves the oil and prepares the car filter for relubrication. This is not required here. This filter is a test filter and any mild cleaner should be able to loosen trapped dirt. I plan to use a diluted green cleaner from Amazon. I'm glad we got this filter because the paper filter we used was only a '9' filter and this one is '11'. Should absorb more and can be cleaned more frequently if needed. The filter itself seems strong enough, I dropped it from about 8 feeds (our return line is in the ceiling) and it survived. lol I will resist another purchase
