Review on Xantrex Echo Charge 12 & 24V Systems: Model 82-0123-01 by James Vilchez

Essential for keeping chassis battery charged while camping or when plugged in

Product arrived on time and the packaging was good. I need this product for my RV, I have a class A gas bus. Installation was pretty easy. The instructions call for this device to be installed in a dry location near the Coach batteries and chassis. Unfortunately, both batteries are exposed to street moisture in open compartments. I called Xantrex Support and spoke to them about my problem. They recommended that I place the Echo on a plank next to my left foot and run cables through the firewall to both batteries. The instructions say to use 12 gauge wire to extend the wire. For my application I needed 8 feet of wire from my bus batteries to Echo and another 9-10 feet from my Echo chassis battery. Xantrex Technical Support referred the chart to me and recommended I use 8 gauge wire for extended use to reduce voltage drop! As long as the Echo works as advertised, my chassis battery will stay charged. We have been camping for almost 3 weeks and my chassis battery is fully charged. I had to change the chassis battery at the beginning of the season, when I changed the oil in June the service center reported that my battery was getting weak. My research led me to the Xantrex Echo to keep my chassis battery charged and performing as advertised.
