Review on 5 Gallon Fortiflex Flat-Back Bucket by Amy Smith

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great water bucket for my dogs

I got this bucket because I had another very similar bucket (probably an earlier version of this one I bought a few years ago ). . The old one still works well, despite tiny cracks in the top (after more than a decade, what do you want?) that can reduce its full power by about 1/4 inch. I have two dogs, one is a very large lab, the other is a medium sized terrier mix. The smaller terrier's name is Jinx. I kept three 5 gallon buckets outside on the covered patio for her water, which always kept her in order for about 4 days when I left the house. But I noticed that the other two buckets were significantly taller and (of course) narrower. But I was worried about the higher part of it. The owner (big dog) would easily spill the last drops from the tallest buckets. But Jinx will definitely have trouble reaching the last few inches at the bottom of those tall buckets. I rarely let any of them get deep enough that it's a problem; but late last year I was returning home from a three day trip that was supposed to arrive around 1:30pm or so when I had car trouble and was delayed another day before I could return home. When I got home two days later, the dogs had already drunk water from three buckets by the fifth day. I noticed that the two larger ones still had water deep inside them, still barely accessible to Jinx; but the shorter bucket was dry. So I started looking again for another bucket that looked like the old one, I looked everywhere I shopped. I originally bought it from PetSmart but they stopped selling it. and try as hard as I could, I couldn't find anything quite like it anywhere. Then it occurred to me to check on Revane. Here it is. I bought it immediately. I couldn't be happier. They were never left alone during this trip and had problems with the car, but they were already on day four when I returned from a recent trip a few days after adding a new bucket. Not only were none of the buckets anywhere near empty (at least that's not to be expected when the water was 1/3 more and less time had passed), but their usage from the buckets was more evenly distributed than before; which certainly leads me to believe that in the event of an unexpected, inevitable prolonged absence in the future, Jinx will have enough water more than 1/3 longer than the increase in water alone should provide.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Ok overall but...
