I bought the first version because now that I'm working from home I needed a second HDMI port for my second monitor (which doesn't work). The updated version gave me another much-needed USB port (non-C). It's great that the MacBook has four USB-C ports, but I still have a lot of USB devices. This updated version added a USB 2.0 port so I can now use my mouse and keyboard - *and* the printer, and charge my headphones (for long conference calls, you know). A sleeve that matches the MacBook sleeve is an added bonus. Especially since my job bought a USB-C adapter that only had a USB, an ethernet jack (didn't hear about wifi?) and another USB-C port (mmm. I've had plenty, thanks), a simple white plastic housing (fu) and all that more than twice as expensive! This is economical, elegant and supports all devices that I need.
