My non-tech needs are simple. As a freelance marketing writer, I needed a portable drive that could back up my iMac on a regular basis in case my computer crashed or I needed to send it in for repair. I'm using the latest Mac software and have a time capsule, but that gives me extra security. I like that it's already formatted for Mac. I like that it's plug-in capable and copies files quickly and without fuss. And I love that it pairs with Time Machine on my Mac and password protection to keep my data safe. I like that I have the ability to create drag-and-drop files as well as scheduled backups. I also like the three-year limited warranty, which promises me that WD stands by their product. I can't talk to those who are real techies. All I can say is that for someone like me who just wants a reliable drive that works right out of the box and does what it says, this My Passport for Mac is great! Addendum: The worst happened - my computer crashed and I had to reinstall the operating system. I'm so happy I got this product in advance! After the software was erased, I just plugged it into my computer and populated it again with all my backup files. I am a happy camper with this product!
