This humidifier is simply the best I've ever tried. I've ordered and returned about 10 different ultrasonic humidifiers (no filters) this winter, from Vicks to Taotronics and other brands I've never heard of but had good reviews on Revain. I finally found this humidifier that meets all my needs. I need a device that is quiet when it comes to noise, has a good mist output, fills from the top of the tank and is easy to clean. This Levoit tops it all. All of my recent humidifiers of different brands have made some kind of noise. I've tried the other two types of top-fill, but they keep making the sound of dripping water, like a faucet dripping fast. This is caused by water condensate at the top of the smoke tube dripping back into the main tank. This levoit has a layered bottom on the fog tube that prevents water droplets from dripping directly into the water and making noise. And since the tank is filled from the top, you don't have to unscrew the cap and turn it upside down to fill it. These guys make a loud "glug" sound, usually every 30 minutes to an hour. This device does not make GULP-CHALP-CHULK noises to wake you up. The tank is top filled so it has a VERY large opening at the top that makes it easy to stick your hand in to clean it. Again, tanks filled from the bottom are more difficult to clean, as the only hole you can put your hand through is the cap, which you unscrew to fill the tank. This tank also has another clever modification on the top of the tank. It has slits in each corner, which means that if you turn it upside down to drain old water, any water that's in the corners can drain out. The top fill tank makes it number 1 for me. The only thing I want to mention now that might help you is that you should download the app, if only to set higher default auto humidity settings. What I mean is that at night if you press the sleep button to turn off the LED display but leave the device running while sleeping, pressing that button puts the device into "automatic" mode. The device detects humidity above 40% and switches off automatically. 40% is too low for me, so I had to use the app and set the auto target to 60% humidity. So it doesn't switch to sleep mode all the time at night. This ONLY works with the app. But this small one-off fix isn't enough for me to notice.
