Build quality is cheap but does the job. Initially I thought this article was buggy because it keeps connecting and disconnecting to my PC. Upon further investigation, it was found that if the Kinect microphone is muted in your PC's audio settings, the Kinect turns itself off automatically. Just open the advanced audio settings, navigate to recording and turn it on and that should fix the power failure issue.
