I bought this brace because I had a "skier's toe" injury in the past. I recently started playing the saxophone again and the pressure on my right thumb from holding the instrument made the condition worse again. I was looking for a brace that would support my thumb while leaving the rest of my hand and fingers free to play the keys when needed. This type of brace doesn't cover too much of my wrist or arm, nor does it go too far down to my thumb (I don't need buckles or full thumb coverage that would interfere with the way I hold my finger). Tool). The removable orthosis insert is made of heavy plastic and offers good rigidity without being completely inflexible. I bought these braces and a cheaper but similar design from another store (about $8 vs $20). The cheaper one used a thinner material that wasn't long enough to reach my wrist and the corset panel was so flexible it offered very little support. While I found this IRUFA model to be a little pricey for what you get, the material is durable, there are plenty of things to wrap around your wrist, and the locking insert provides good grip. My only observation is that I found the thumb hole a bit large and usually wear X-Large gloves, although my fingers aren't that meaty. However, the velcro can be adjusted at different angles so it wraps nicely around your thumb.
