Failed to load media. My husband is an addict, which means he has MANY hobbies to keep him occupied when he's not working and sitting at home alone. We bought this motion sensor kit because most of his hobbies are either in the backyard or in the shed on the side of the house where he keeps all his 'stuff'. There it is almost impossible to see or hear if someone is knocking on the door or if a package or mail has been delivered. We've also heard of porch parcel thefts in our area, so it's very reassuring to know something was left behind in real time. This motion detector is really cool and easy to set up! We had a couple of C batteries on hand and that was basically all we needed. We decided to put one sensor on the front door and one in the backyard. So if you want to install them like we did, this is another additional but final step. The sound monitor can be carried around, mounted on a counter or shelf, mounted anywhere - anything you want as long as it's about 400 feet or closer to the detector. (We didn't cross the 400-foot threshold to see if it works, but we really don't have to.) There are low and high volume settings on the monitor. When we don't need it, we set it to "off" and it doesn't ring. The sound is similar to what you hear when entering a supermarket (see video). I also like that the sensors have an indicator that lights up for a few seconds when something is in their path. For example, if there was an intruder, that little light alone could be enough to make him or her pack! So far this kit has served its purpose well for what we intended. He seems very strong and unobtrusive. I think we made a wise choice and it's great for my husband to know he can be productive without stopping to check the porch when he's in the hobby area.
