V-Moda Crossfade wireless headphones are a good choice when you need powerful bass, clear treble and clear sound. The great thing about these headphones is that they sound great wireless too. However, I found the standard ear pads a bit flimsy, so I upgraded to the V-Moda XL ear pads for an additional $20. Sound characteristics - bass lovers will enjoy it! The sound characteristics of these headphones are V-shaped - low and high frequencies. Center frequencies are underlined. The bass is punchy and tight, while the highs are also well defined and shine in the highs. The mids are not as pronounced as bass or treble, but are still present and crisp. In contrast to other bass-heavy headphones, the mids are not muffled, but are still well defined. Music like EDM, rap, pop, and modern rock sounds pretty good on them. WIRED AND WIRELESS AUDIO QUALITY - Both sound great whether you listen to these headphones wired or wireless; the sound is almost the same. In wireless mode, the overall clarity of the sound is slightly lower than in wired mode. I could only notice a difference when I repeatedly plugged and unplugged the cable - and even then the difference is small enough that it's not a problem. That's why I usually use these wireless headphones. Sound - Compared to other Crossfade Wireless headphones, these are headphones that I find bass heavy. Another famous headphone with bass is the Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro. (The Custom One Pro has an adjustable bass setting, but no Bluetooth.) The Crossfade Wireless definitely has tighter bass and extended treble than the Custom One Pro. But because of the extended highs, classic rock and acoustic music can sometimes have an artificial-sounding high end. For this reason I prefer the Custom One Pro when listening to classic rock and 80's music. But for electronic dance music and rap, the Crossfade Wireless are great. Wireless and wired functionality. In wireless mode, after pairing these headphones with a Bluetooth-enabled device (phone, tablet, computer, etc.), the connection takes just a few seconds each time the Crossfade Wireless Headphones are powered on. My phone has a connection indicator and how much battery is left in the headphones. I also paired these headphones with my laptop. However, when both my phone and laptop are present, the headphones default to the headphones that are actually playing sound at the moment. The range of these headphones is good. I had an iPhone 6 more than 30 feet away behind a wall and the crossfade wireless worked fine. However, more walls or greater distances can result in uneven reception. I assume the strength of the Bluetooth signal source (iPhone, audio receiver, computer, etc.) also factors into the equation, but in my experience the reception is pretty good. Battery life and charging. It took me about 2 hours to fully charge the battery of this headphone. The battery is not user removable. According to the instructions, it takes 12 hours. I've used it for several days in a row without charging. It's worth noting that the headphones don't consume any battery power in wired mode. That means you can still use these wired headphones even if the battery dies. There is no visual battery indicator on the earbuds themselves. You'd have to check the connected device to see how much power is left on the current charge - this is common with many Bluetooth headphones. any wireless latency issues. The sound of people speaking matches the speed of their lips, and games seem to work correctly - at least on my iPhone 6. Comfort is where I've missed these headphones. The included pads are a bit thin for my taste. Also, the pads aren't big enough to fully cover my ears, meaning some of the pads were placed right on the outer tips of my ears. It caused a bit of pain after an hour or so. Luckily, V-Moda offers the XL Pad memory foam for around $20. Upgrading to XL pads made the fit much more comfortable. With the XL pads, my ears are completely in the pads and no longer touch them directly. Now I can wear the headphones for much longer with much more comfort. Although I do have one complaint - my ears get a little warm after a few hours of use. It's not a big problem and I can deal with it. But on the contrary, my Beyerdynamic Costum One Pro is much more "spacious", which keeps my ears cool for longer. Build quality is good, but the buttons are a little clunky. Crossfade wireless headphones are made with good parts and materials. . The body of each headphone is made of durable plastic with metal edges and metal shielding plates. The earcups are held in place by a metal frame, and the headband is flexible yet very strong. All this makes the headphones reliable. In fact, I accidentally stepped on it once, causing one of the earbuds to fall out of the case. But since the frame itself is metal and the plastic is well reinforced; There was no damage - just put the earpiece on. However, the buttons for controlling volume and playback could use some improvement. Pressing these buttons feels too perfunctory, and sometimes pressing a button doesn't really feel like a press. The power button also functions as a pairing mode button. It slides, doesn't push. The sliding action is decent, but in the "off" position the force required to slide it to the "on" position seems too much - sometimes it hurts me to work as it gets stuck on the nail . With Moda earphones, the protective plates on each earpiece can be swapped out for a customized look. The V-Moda website offers a special service where you can make custom-made panels with different materials and finishes. Materials range from plain aluminum to precious metals that can cost up to $40,000! However, cheaper options (like aluminum and standard metal) still look pretty good. You can even engrave your initials and your own logo on it. Verdict The Crossfade Wireless headphones are a great choice for those looking for punchy bass, extended highs, and great clarity. The fact that they sound so great wireless is perhaps the most amazing thing about them. The standard ear pads need replacing for better comfort, and they can still make your ears warm, but that's a minor issue for an excellent pair of wireless earbuds.
