Very powerful pump for the price

We used it today to pump about 100 gallons of liquid through a two stage filtration and this thing was a workhorse. It was quiet, fast, and handled the filter back pressure with ease. I was really impressed. I hope this little guy holds out and keeps going for a long time.

Pros
  • Great overall performance
Cons
  • Doubtful

Pump arrived on time and well packaged. We have radiant heat that involves several external circuits, so antifreeze is used to prevent freezing. We are located on a private well and it is not recommended to use "makeup" on the cauldron. (Antifreeze dilution problem) The Shurflo 2088-594-144 pump was perfect for this application. Tightening the fittings onto the pump's cylindrical pipe threads was difficult, but doable. Yes, I would recommend this pump.

Pros
  • Excellent construction
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Good piston pump

If it's rated for 180 gph, you'll get 180 gph even if the liquid has to rise a little. I disassembled this pump. It uses a three-chamber valve assembly with something like a swashplate. As the plate spins, it pulls fluid through the valve assembly, rather than just pushing it like an impeller pump would. Two advantages over impeller pumps such as submersible pumps are found in aquariums and fountains: - Self-priming. You can only start the pump with air in the suction hose. It draws water or…

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Quick start guide
