Review on ๐Ÿ”Š Pyle PFA300: Powerful 90 Watt HiFi Stereo Amplifier for Home, Car, and Boat Audio Systems by Marcela Taylor

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Noise, poor galvanic ground. But fast delivery.

The amp makes excessive noise when connected to my mixer when powered by an AC/DC adapter. Connecting to a 12 volt battery reduces the noise somewhat, but that's still unacceptable - most likely because the battery is external rather than built into the metal case to provide some protection. Conclusion: The AC/DC power supply has poor galvanic isolation. If the power supply had used a step-down transformer instead of a switching power supply, and had adequate DC filtering and proper noise shielding, I think the isolation could have been greatly improved. It worked well with my Shure microphone as a separate device. The output power of 90W is a joke. This is an advertising ploy used by all companies selling audio amplifiers and is misleading (you can barely hear the sound from 10ft max! I don't understand why the companies think the customer is so clueless and why they may continue to promote it). apparent power! 90 watts of electricity would blow out the windows of your house. I've built several 2 watt (rms electrical power) amps in the past and the sound could hurt your ears a few feet away.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Almost never
