Review on Polaroid Waterproof Underwater Housing Case for Canon Powershot G11/G12 Digital Camera - Dive Rated by Thomas Taylor

Almost immaculate and much cheaper than the original Canon case although it appears to be identical in form and function. In a full week of 20 dives at the resort, no water spilled and I took some great photos. My only real complaint is that the camera wants to be upside down underwater because it's just too heavy and too buoyant. Therefore, most vertical photos required a lot of wrist strength to hold it properly. I took a weight from a dive shop and screwed it into the bottom of the tripod hole and it worked - then it became slightly buoyant (I'd prefer it to float rather than sink when I let go of it). and likes to stand on my head. I had a bit of an issue with moisture in the air already condensing inside the case on the front screen after we got out of very warm water. It was never enough to worry about a leak but I had to be very careful where I left my camera between dives to avoid blurry footage until things stabilized. But I'm pretty sure this will be a problem in any case. I was happy to see that it comes with an extra gasket and a tube of gasket lube. I made sure to reapply the lube daily and was very careful not to get anything on the seal, especially sand or dust. no longer keeps the case closed. Luckily it happened over water. I'm not sure if a Canon body is any better but it was a huge disappointment and I won't be buying another like this. I will try the real one next time.
