Review on πŸ“· Neewer 70" Aluminium Jib Arm Camera Crane: Quick Shoe Plate, Counterweight | DSLR Video Cameras, Load up to 17.6lbs by David Dugas

I'm going to have a lot of fun with this jib arm!

I am very impressed with the build quality of this product. Durable metal, good fittings and many mounting options (on a tripod or light stand, as well as on various options for mounting the camera). Small details such as spirit levels make assembly easier. Unlike another device I own, the spot where the counterweight attaches is very heavily reinforced with thick metal and the weights are bolted on (no more need to accidentally drop the camera on the floor when that weight falls). The BEST part is the ability to move the front bars. This allows me to aim at a specific spot and then take a pull back shot while the camera is still pointing at the home position (see the last two images to show how the head looks in both the top and bottom position pointing down). ). This offers fantastic flexibility for shooting. The only thing that bothers me is that the bag is too small. You have to disassemble everything to put it back in your bag. I'd rather be able to stow gear and set it up quickly on the spot. One piece of advice I would give is to use a sturdy lighting stand with a reversible mount for mounting; much cheaper than heavy tripod and more portable. The top of my light stand allows for quick socket removal and this allowed me to use a 3/8 mounting bolt to connect the boom.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Unreliable
