I have an 18 foot V6 inboard motor boat. I am restoring it from deck including a marine vinyl lined plywood box for the engine cover. I wanted to muffle the engine noise and got this soundproofing package. The first thing that struck me is that it's quite heavy, heavier than some of the other similar products I've used in the past. It looks well made. After sealing the inside of the wood with elastomeric paint, I measured the 3 inside walls of the box and the top I wanted to cover and planned out the job. Each rug measures just under 2 feet x 16 inches and you will receive 10 of them. I put them in the box and made notes with a pencil. Once I figured out the best way to coat the inside, I removed the backing and glued the sticky side to the paint. I cut out the details I needed with sharp scissors. This made a noticeable difference in the sound of the engine. Another benefit is the thermal insulation which prevents heat from reaching the lid itself and hot air is expelled down the sides of the boat. This thin insulating material can be used in vehicles and many other applications.
