Numbers are cut out, not white

The clock looks beautiful and functions well, does not make noise as advertised. However, the photo of the lock online makes the numbers look a lot easier to read than they are. It looks like the numbers are white from the picture online, but they are cut out of the wood/see-through to the wall. That would work fine if the clock sat flush against the wall but that is not possible since the gears and battery pack are on the back of the clock. You can see from my picture it's not as it appears in the online photo. I decided to keep it and taped white paper behind the clock so I can see the numbers better from a distance. I love how it looks besides the numbers being hard to see.

I had this clock saved in my wish list for months and months before I was able to do my small bathroom remodel knowing I wanted to use it in there. It is a prominent feature in the bathroom and is just so unique and chic. The ''motor'' or the hand moving is a little bit loud but not too bothersome. Might be an issue in a bedroom or something like that.
