Never had herpes, but for the last 4 months I've had herpes on average 1 time per month (the only change in my life is going to the public pool every day). Anyway, a friend of herpes swears by L-lysine. I followed their advice and ordered the product. So the onset of a new cold occurred a week after my L-lysine arrived. I immediately took the pill and the next morning the cold sore was gone and now 2 days later you can't even see the pill. It never grew into a full-fledged ulcer. I have also found many studies claiming that L-lysine is effective in getting rid of cold sores. Now I'm wondering if L-lysine should be trusted for shingles if this is the case. I don't have shingles and have never had chickenpox, but my doctor still recommends the shingles vaccine.
