Review on 📸 Plustek ephoto Z300 Photo Scanner - Ultra Fast 4x6 Scan in 2 Seconds, Auto Crop and Deskew for Mac and PC by Eric Pavelko

I originally gave this scanner 5 stars but said it too soon. After scanning a few hundred photos, I noticed that the last few hundred had an orange line running down the middle of each photo! Too bad I didn't check the photos along the way, but I had thousands to scan and didn't want to open every photo after I scanned them. Too much time. I called support and they directed me to calibrate which I kept doing, until the line stopped appearing. Fast forward two days later when the scanner suddenly stopped scanning and only produced images of lines. I called support again and they logged into my computer via Team Viewer and found that the problem was with the scanner itself. So I had to send it back to amazon.com. A new scanner has arrived and now about every 10th photo is being scanned with a big black bar down one side. I recalibrated a few times, it worked, and then it started producing the group again. Bottom line, the machine itself seems great, but the software is TERRIBLE. I'm so frustrated and if 10 percent of a thousand photos are scanned with a black line down one side, it means that I have to rescan 100 photos. If they could fix the software they would have a great product. I cannot recommend this based on my terrible experience. **ORIGINAL REVIEW** I can't say enough about this scanner. I originally wanted an Epson FastFoto, but at almost $600 I couldn't bring myself to buy it. For $200 you get pretty much the same scanner with a few minor differences. Yes, there is no automatic document feeder, but you can easily insert photos one at a time. You could even pay a kid to do it; it is so easy. So far I have scanned almost 2000 out of 9000 printouts without any problems. The device only scans one side. So if there's something important on the back of your photos, just scan the back! My photos are sorted by year, so I just create a new folder for each year and store them in that folder. This is a very simple process. I scan at 300 dpi, but when I come across a particular photo that I want to enlarge, I simply set the resolution for that image to 600 dpi. I had some trouble installing the software on my computer using the CD, so I just went to their website and downloaded it from there. No problem. The software works great and you can even use it to edit your photos. I would highly recommend this product and am confident that I will be able to scan all 9000 of my photos with ease.
