I was willing to deal with a much larger power supply (compared to the original Asus power supply) but when I finally plugged it into my desk I was able to take the smaller P/s with me when I traveled I've noticed that one of my 27" external monitors is flickering. I checked and it was a monitor with a VGA DB9 cable. I connected this cable to another monitor and it also flickered. another VGA cable still flickers. Double darn. Now I think it's the VGA port on my new laptop. So I googled the problem for more troubleshooting ideas. I found a guy who said he thinks it's the power supply plugged into my laptop right next to the VGA port. Disconnect the power and bingo! No more flickering. Take out the power adapter and reinsert the Asus power adapter. DOES NOT FLICKER. I can only assume that this is a third-party power supply that somehow doesn't have the same mass or performance as Asus. Sent back, a little disappointed. It might fit snugly in my travel bag, but it's significantly larger and heavier than the Asus p/s.
