I have this for my Bridgeport router. I doubted the quality but ordered anyway. It's tough, the casting was fine. Mina with a movable jaw had a dent in the upper part, which did not affect the work. I took it apart and mapped it to my surface slab, it was only about . 001 in a corner, otherwise top and bottom are parallel. I scraped the bottom perfectly evenly and then scraped a top corner and all is fine. I made the holes in the fixed jaws deeper and replaced the Chinese bolts with longer American ones, the detachable jaws are very stiff, I carved small steps into the top of the jaws with a carbide dovetail cutter and now I can clamp things there without parallel . I use steps more than anything else. It's a good vise for the money, but it's not Kurt. Oh yeah I carved a 45 degree V-neckline that lowers the jaw to be flatter and that helped too. I see something more like a set of vises than ready-made vises. If you are a hardware store guy and have the time to design and finish this vise then this is a good deal for you. You can make a very precise, very decent vise out of it. Better than most Chinese swivel base milling vises. If you don't want to fine-tune it and expect it to be perfect out of the box, you need to buy a Kurt vise, not this one. This is a good vise set, replace some of the bolts with longer ones, tweak it for your use and it's a pretty good deal. Especially if you don't have money for a new kurt and live in an area where used kurts are rare or non-existent like me.
