bought together with moving robots. Not sure if my 5 year old son would like it too, but he preferred the loud clicky gizmos setup. This kit lacks sprockets, which allows for more interesting designs. So combining it with the robots in Gears was more rewarding. I can see how the spring can break, it's glued a bit loose but works fine. Either make it stronger or add more feathers to the kit so they stay useful and are less frustrating for the young ones when they break. The parts are a little light, with a quick spin the gear with the handle will break off and fall off track.
