Review on ๐Ÿงน Efficient Cleaning with the Clarke MA10 12E Floor Scrubber (107408160) by Melvin Goerge

Absolute disappointment!

I have used the Hoover Floormate to clean dog and puppy areas on a daily basis for many years. I've had no performance issues with the Floormate in general, other than it burning the motor every few months! They are amazing replacement machines that come with a 1 year warranty but when I needed my 4th car in a year I decided to upgrade to a commercial machine. Imagine the Clarke MA10 12. This machine is the "entry-level model" of a commercial vacuum cleaner. As expected, it's a lot heavier than my lighter roommates, but it's also TEN TIMES more expensive. Because of this, I think my expectations were pretty high considering the high price. Unfortunately, this car did not live up to my expectations. The first thing to note is that all the locking systems on this machine absolutely suck! The front tank latch is so difficult to open that I can't do it with one hand (and I'm pretty strong!). So, either you hold the bolt handle with both hands (which doesn't fit, so pinky fingers always have to stick out) and you fucking pull it and it wraps around your knuckles every time. Or, if you're strong enough to pull it with one hand, beware of the danger of ripping your nail off! OR you do what I'm supposed to do and take a 1/2 dowel about a foot long and use it as a lever. Not convenient, but it works. After removing the tank assembly, you must separate the attached "clean water tank" from the recovery tank. Again, an uncomfortable and potentially painful task. When it's time to drain the tank, you'll once again need to loosen and remove the clunky locking system on the fresh water tank. The "locking system" on the recovery tank is a joke. It's just a plastic tab on the tank that sticks out and should fit into a slot on another tab that sticks out of the top of the tank (one on each side). This is a system designed for error. I don't see it taking longer than a year. But I learned to handle all of this in what I hoped was an excellent cleaning machine. Even after years of using the Floormate, I'm used to pouring clean water and vacuuming up dirty water and dirt from the floor. All in all it was just what I needed to keep dog and puppy areas clean. Clarke, on the other hand, although it was designed from the same general premise, one would expect it to work in supposedly the same way. Let me assure you that is not the case. While I'm giving the machine an extra star because its scrub roller brush does a good job of loosening dirt within dirt, it doesn't pick up dirt. NOT AT ALL! I chased a COLORFUL piece of toast sprinkles all over the kitchen and it never caught or soaked it up. As with all dog hair mixed up with wet paw prints etc. FORGET IT. You never have to worry about dog hair clogging up your car as it won't pick up a single hair. none! This feature is beyond annoying and the machine would have gotten 1 star if it weren't for the good job of removing dirt from the floor mentioned above. Instead of a one-step cleaning process, I now have a two-step process where I first have to go over the entire area with a rubber broom and sweep all the hair and dust into a dustpan before I even start cleaning, even though it's a VACUUM scrubber. Of course, if you have a wet mess on your floor, you can't use a regular vacuum (which would still be an extra step), so this two-step process takes twice as long, and I paid $$$ 10 TIMES for this machine. Complete disappointment. TO UPDATE. I'm going to throw $1200 in the dumpster. That's how I hate this car. In addition to all of the above, wait until you clean the "Filter" on top of the base unit! MY GOD. I use the term "filter" very loosely because to me a filter is something you take out, clean and put back in. It's just a dirt hole with no way to remove any sort of "filter" and clean it. OH NO. You have to dip your fingers into this filth-filled cave and pull out a filthy, slimy, disgusting goo for several months. After doing this yesterday I thought well at least it should work better now. NOT CORRECT. Now he makes puddles and smears them around without picking up anything. I'm so done with this piece of junk. I genuinely believe that instead of trying to deal with the root cause of the problem, I'll just cut my losses and give it up. What a pathetic car. Remove the two stars I originally gave. He deserves NO STARS.
