My ¼ inch seams were perfect, but my finished pieces were not. My new Janome 1/4" foot let me down. I didn't even realize it until I started stamp quilting. I was losing nearly ½ inch every 10 squares. That's a lot! Recommended by Harriet Hargrave, I bought this seam guide to try and get perfect ¼" SCANT seams. It works great! And it's that simple... Just insert the needle into the hole and place some sort of permanent guide on the edge of the plastic suture guide. I also bought QTools Sewing Edge, a self-adhesive purple vinyl strip that I used as a sewing guide. Instantly, my stitches went from problematic to perfect. If your products are imperfect due to oversized seams, this will solve the problem. I wish I had done this a long time ago. Someday I'll be looking for the perfect ¼" foot, but for now I'm a happy sewing machine.
