Review on Mineral Cutting Butcher Stainless Approved by Erika Martin

Ideal for cutting boards

Mineral oil is mineral oil is mineral oil. The name is a bit imprecise as "mineral oil" is a distillate of crude oil. While mineral oil comes in a variety of densities, it is essentially the same for all woodworking purposes, regardless of brand. The "baby oil" that sells for 10 times the price is just a "scented" version of the same mineral oil. All of the "specialty" meat block oils sold under various brand names that claim patented "formula" and superior performance are most likely the same mineral oil bought in bulk and repackaged. There are only a few petroleum manufacturers and hundreds of brand names selling this product. This particular oil is as good as any and is perfect for cutting boards, cutting blocks, wooden salad bowls, etc. Like all mineral oils, it is odorless, FDA approved, clear, and easy to apply. Simply wipe, wait 10-15 minutes, wipe and buff if necessary. I use it for the cutting boards I sometimes make in my workshop because it's the best value for money.
