Maybe I expected too much
To make it short I tried using EL cables to simulate neon lights (to scale) on a PC case mod, on which I work. EL wire isn't suitable for this (optically) and the wire I received isn't bright at all. Maybe in total darkness it would be good for some sort of accent lighting, but when there's light around it will only be that of the EL - Cable emitted light blur. Back to the drawing board I guess.
