I had to replace a meat thermometer a few months old. I paid a lot of money for it and it looked fancy. But I didn't realize the old one I bought wasn't waterproof. After a few washes it died! I searched for several views and I liked this one as it is easy to read. It's a good size, not too big and not too small. Doesn't take up much space in my drawer. After a soap and water wash, it still reads like a champ and is fairly accurate. I will be buying another one soon to give to my teenage niece who is starting to cook a variety of meats.
