After trying tom toms and Garmin we bought a Magellan RoadMate 1470 and it has been working fine for quite some time. So we ordered another one a few days ago - the same model. in the vehicle, plugged it in and it turned on right away - it took about 3 minutes or less to figure out where it was and what time zone we were in. In other words, it was working within minutes out of the box. It has a few different features that the other didn't have, but we've only been in business for a short time. One piece of advice I will give is NOT to use the HOME function for your address. If your GPS is stolen, that information could lead criminals to your doorstep. We simply enter our home address as a normal address and do not use the HOME function. us to do a legal U-turn and have done so several times.
