Review on Enhanced Comfort with New Balance 520V5 Cushioning Running Men's Shoes for Athletic Performance by Justin Reese

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good running shoe but lacks cushioning and arch support

Overall I really like these shoes. I run 5k on tarmac almost every morning and these are good light breathable shoes for this type of running. They fit me perfectly (width 8.5). My only complaint (and the reason for the 4 star rating) is that they have almost no padding or arch support - definitely not suitable for longer runs, at least not out of the box. The included insoles are almost flat, measuring about 5/32" at their thickest points and no more than 3/32" at their thinnest points. The built-in arch of the shoe itself is pretty minimal. I got the original insoles from Dr. Scholl for $12 and now the shoes are as good as I can imagine. But it adds another $12 to the cost of the shoe and a bit of weight. I can't comment on the durability of the shoes as I've only had them for about a month. However, for the relatively low price of this shoe, it's a pretty good buy that I would definitely recommend - just be prepared to buy replacement insoles if the ground beneath your feet gets too hard.
